Summer Blockbusters
Tagged 2019, MoviesThe Summer has come to an end, sadly. With that goes the big summer popcorn slinging monster cost movies that seem to bring in not just the bacon, but the whole damn pig farm.
Rob & Hatton have talked at ends about some of their favorite movies, of which quite a few were blockbusters of the Summer, but they have never settled in and simply talked about Summer Blockbusters as a concept.
So without further blather, please – get your sunscreen on, a giant tub of popcorn, the bag of sour patch kids you heisted in your back pocket, your wheelbarrow full of soda, and lets get to talking about some of the biggest movies money can buy.
Ok, here we go!
Something In Review – The Great Hack
Tagged 2019, Movies, Something In ReviewHaaaack The Plaaannetttt
Ok, not really. You see, we are getting a lot of stuff for free these days. Need to know the weather? Sure! Want to play a silly little Facebook game? Ok! Want to see a photo of you as a bunny or an older bunny? Why not!?
Truth is – you are paying – we all are… and something as silly as online surveys and photo filters may have much bigger repercussions than you ever thought.
We’re talking the documentary The Great Hack, the story of Cambridge Analytics and how they may have created the political landscape we’re living in…. wow, that was so much more serious than our usual entries.
Don’t worry, we still make the same stupid jokes on Something In Review: The Great Hack
Something In Review – The Invitation
Tagged 2019, Horror, Movies, netflix, Something In ReviewThere are movies that the Somethings agree about… Highlander.
There are movies that the Somethings disagree about… Mars Attacks.
The Invitation definitely fits into one of those categories.
A group of people are invited (get it?) to a dinner party where they haven’t seen each other in quite a long time and have a sordid history. So why are they there? Is it supposed to feel so uncomfortable? Are they getting suckered into buying Amway?

Something In Review – Action Point
Tagged 2019, Movies, New Jersey, Something In ReviewThere is an infamous place in New Jersey, home of the Somethings, that had the nickname of Traction Park.
This amusement park was known for its bad management and injury prone nature.. and yet we all went as a right of passage.
Take that information and welcome to Action Point, a movie inspired by the world of Action Park and taken and pushed through a Jackass fueled blender.
What did the Somethings thing? Did they walk away with busted up ribs from laughter or chip a tooth from grinding their teeth in anger…. only one way to find out – check out #10 of Something In Review – ACTION POINT!
A group of people who have seemingly never met all gather together, invited by the mysterious Mr. Boddy.
What we find out from there is how much they do know about each other and what they hold over each other’s heads….
Unendingly quotable and beloved by everyone with good taste, this movie made form a boardgame should not have ever been as good as it ended up… but here we are.
So count your bullets (1+1+2+1…) and douse the flames on the side of your head, we’re giving you Something In Review #9: Clue.
Actual Worst Movies
Tagged 2019, MoviesPodcast Rob and Hatton love a bad movie.. maybe Hatton a little more than PCR. Specifically, the kinds of movies where there is so much fun being had by the people that made it or the premise is so knowingly dumb that it is hard to not enjoy yourself.
These are not those movies.
You see, we have talked about bad movies before, but not bad movies before… you follow? The sort of movies that you get up and almost leave the theater and ask for your money back bad. The type of movie you stop in the middle to go get yourself some Tums bad. Movies that derail careers.
These flicks aren’t the sorts of things that came out of the other side of bad and found love… they just got lost in bad and haven’t thought to ask for directions.

Dramatic-ish Readings: The Usual Suspects
Tagged 2019, Dramaticish, MoviesLet us settle in once again for this, the 9th edition of Dramatic-ish Readings.
Five gentlemen all called in on a trumped up charge.. their lives forever changed by the mysterious Kaiser Soze.
Who is in the line-up? Well, for those of you familiar with this show, we’re sure you’ll be able to figure it out…. it reminds me of this time I was in a barbershop quartet back in Skokie, Illinois…
Avengers: Endgame
Tagged 2019, MCU, MoviesMuch like Thanos, this review was inevitable.
First, this is a spoiler laden episode. From the Hulk turning purple to Captain America’s cousin Oliver coming in to save the whole of the universe – we pull no punches on the talk, so if you haven’t gotten to Endgame yet, sit this one out for now.
Beyond that, we’re doing what we do – and that’s jabber on endlessly about a movie that will change the way we think about movies – only insomuch as we have never ever seen something that took 20+ movies to make and 15 years to see to fruition. Love it or hate it – it is hard to not be impressed.
So join the Somethings for Episode 135 where we discuss at length Endgame – aka – Ant-Man’s Fantastic Voyage.
Well, join Podcast Rob and Hatton on Episode 134as they deep dive into the documentary Behind The Curve, available on Netflix, which discusses the possibility that this planet we all know and love (planet here meaning a celestial body moving in an elliptical orbit around a star.)

Flat Earth
Tagged 2019, Movies, netflixIn the last month or two a documentary came out talking about one of the strangest theories of the last couple decades.. is it a sign that perhaps we were wrong about the make up of our universe or is it the inevitable problem of what happens when everybody finds a friend on the internet?
